Flossing your teeth is an important and healthy habit that everyone needs to pick up. When you floss your teeth you get some great benefits including avoiding tooth decay and fillings. Flossing your teeth helps you remove bacteria and germs from your mouth, which comes from having food getting lodged in your teeth after eating. Flossing protects our teeth and our gums, and leaves our mouths feeling squeaky clean!Finding the right floss for you can help you get into the healthy habit. Floss can be waxed, or unwaxed, flavored or unflavored, and comes in a variety of widths and textures, including satin finish. In order to floss properly, you not only have to move the floss between your teeth, you have to work the floss gently around the tops of your gumline in order to get all food debris that may be trapped.
You can floss at any time of day, not just during tooth-brushing time. To stick with your new clean habit, find a convenient time to floss, like when you’re watching TV or listening to music. It doesn’t matter when you floss, but try to floss at least once a day. The most important time you can floss is right before going to bed.
-take about 18-24 inches of floss and grasp tightly in your hands-gently work the dental floss between each gap of teeth and slide the floss up where the gum line touches the teeth.
