Dental implants are titanium cylinders that are placed where a tooth is missing. It acts as the root of the missing tooth. After placement, a tooth is placed on top of it that matches all of the other teeth around it.
If you are missing one or all of your teeth, implants are a great choice. Implants replace missing teeth to restore your bite back to normal. They also keep your teeth in proper alignment by keeping the teeth on either side of the open space from drifting, which can cause a bad bite and the potential to lose them in the future.
Dental Implants at Jeffrey Ellenberg, DMD, PA
To being your dental implant procedure, you’ll need a full evaluation at our Clearwater dental office to make sure you are a good candidate for implants. Dr. Ellenberg will check your bone density and gum health, both of which are necessary for a dental implant to be successful.
Some of the most important elements of a positive dental implant experience are consistency and trust. The surgical aspect of your treatment will be completed at one of our referred specialists. Dr. Ellenberg has been working with an excellent group of periodontists and oral surgeons for the last 32 years. In fact, he has an implant from them himself!
Once your implant has integrated into the bone, we complete the final phase of the placement of your new toot or teeth. To make the new tooth or teeth, Dr. Ellenberg will make an impression of your existing teeth, creating a model of your bite. The new restoration, most typically a crown, will be based on this model so it will blend in perfectly with the rest of your teeth. The crown is then attached to the connector point (abutment) on your implant.
To ensure the health and longevity of your new implant, you’ll need to brush and floss regularly, and visit our Clearwater dental office for professional cleanings at recommended intervals. With proper care and maintenance, your implant can last a lifetime!
